SERP Analyzer Deprecated
SERP Analyzer is now deprecated after proving unreliable in practice and seeing low real-world usage.
SERP Analyzer is now deprecated in Shotomatic. Over time it became clear that it was not meeting the reliability bar we want for the product, and it also was not seeing enough real-world usage to justify continued investment.
We are tightening Shotomatic around the workflows people actually come back for: screenshot capture and website crawler exports.
What Changed
- SERP Analyzer is deprecated and no longer part of the main product focus
- Navigation is simpler with more focus on the main capture surfaces
- Core workflows stay front and center as we keep improving capture reliability and export quality
Why We Deprecated It
There were two main reasons behind this decision.
First, SERP Analyzer was not reliably stable in practice. Search engines, especially Google, continually harden against automated and bot-like access patterns. That meant this workflow could become inconsistent even when the rest of Shotomatic was working well. We do not want to keep a feature in the product if it feels unreliable or unpredictable.
Second, people were not using it enough to justify that maintenance cost. In contrast, screenshot capture and website crawler workflows continue to be the parts of Shotomatic that people actually rely on. Those are better places for us to spend time improving quality, exports, and overall polish.
Deprecating SERP Analyzer lets us focus more of our effort on the workflows that matter most:
- Window and screen capture
- Batch website capture
- Fast exports to PDF, ZIP, images, and video
In short, this was a reliability and focus decision, not just a cleanup pass.
What To Use Instead
If you used SERP Analyzer for page captures, the closest replacement is the Website Crawler for multi-page website runs, or the standard screenshot capture workflow for targeted manual captures.
