New free Screenshot Resolution Checker that reads the pixel size, Retina scale, size in points, stored DPI, and print size of screenshots on your device.

Shotomatic Screenshot Resolution Checker showing pixel size and Retina scale

We shipped a new free Screenshot Resolution Checker in Shotomatic. Drop in one or more screenshots to see their pixel size, Retina scale, and size in points. Images are read in your browser and never uploaded.

What's New

  • Read the pixel size of each screenshot as width × height
  • See the Aspect ratio and Megapixels for every image
  • Check the Retina scale of iPhone, iPad, and Mac captures
  • Read the Stored DPI and the Print size at 300 or 150 DPI

Retina Scale and Points

A Retina screenshot has two or three times as many pixels as the points a designer works in. The checker recognizes full-screen iPhone, iPad, and Mac sizes, plus the 144 DPI value macOS writes into Retina captures.

  • Compare Size in points with the frame in your design file
  • Spot a 2x or 3x capture before you place it in a mockup

Limits

  • Up to 30 images at a time
  • Up to 50 MB per file
  • PNG, JPG, HEIC, and WebP input

Fast Workflow

  1. Open the Screenshot Resolution Checker
  2. Choose screenshots or drop them onto the page
