Compress PDF: Shrink PDF File Size in Your Browser

New free Compress PDF tool that makes a PDF smaller on your device by re-encoding its images, shows the size saved, and leaves text, fonts, and links untouched.

Shotomatic Compress PDF showing the original and compressed file sizes

We shipped a new free Compress PDF tool in Shotomatic. Choose a PDF and a compression level, and it makes a smaller copy for email or upload limits. Every file is processed on your device.

What's New

  • Choose Recommended, Light for the sharpest images, or Strong for the smallest file
  • See the original size, the new size, and the percentage saved
  • Download a compressed copy while the original file stays unchanged

What Gets Compressed

The tool re-encodes images inside the PDF as smaller JPEGs, and only when the result is clearly smaller. Text, fonts, vector graphics, and links stay as they are. If the PDF can't get any smaller, the tool tells you it's already compact instead of offering a larger file.

  • Compression breaks digital signatures, so compress first and sign afterward
  • Check small text inside images, especially after Strong compression

Limits

  • One PDF at a time, up to 100 MB
  • PDFs with a password are not accepted
