New free Split Image tool that cuts an image into a grid or into slices on your device and downloads the pieces as JPG or PNG files in a ZIP.

Shotomatic Split Image cutting an image into a grid of pieces

We shipped a new free Split Image tool in Shotomatic. Cut an image into a grid for a carousel post, or into slices to break up a long screenshot. Every file is processed on your device.

What's New

  • Split by Grid with Rows and Columns, or start from Common grids
  • Split by Slices with a Slice height in pixels or an Aspect ratio such as A4 or 4:5
  • See every cut in the preview before you download
  • Save the pieces as JPG or PNG in one ZIP file

Pieces Keep Their Pixels

Each piece keeps the original pixels and is never resized. Files are numbered left to right, then top to bottom. PNG keeps transparency, while JPG fills transparent areas with white.

Browsers can only draw images up to about 16.8 megapixels (4096 × 4096), or 16,384 pixels on a side. If a piece would be larger, the tool asks you to add rows or columns, or to use a shorter slice.

Limits

  • One image at a time, up to 50 MB
  • JPG, PNG, WebP, and HEIC input
  • Up to 20 rows and 20 columns, and up to 100 pieces

  1. Open Split Image
  2. Click Choose an image, or drop it onto the page
